Jacobs Well - Life in the Margins
Submitted by Desiree Botha on September 1, 2010 - 3:13pm.

What: A weekend workshop where we will explore God’s heart for people on the margins of society. We will examine stories from the Bible and share our experiences from life in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. Together we will wrestle with questions like: Who are the marginalized? Is God biased toward the poor? Are we called to save people? What is the difference between mercy and justice? What is the gospel? This workshop will spark your imagination as you live out God’s call to love marginalized people in your own neighbourhood, school, church, or workplace. Where: Jacob’s Well – 239 Main Street, Vancouver (Corner of Main and Cordova, across from the courthouse). When: Friday Sept 17 from 7 pm - 10pm and Saturday Sept 18 from 10 am – 4 pm. How: We recommend pre-registering. E-mail workshop@jacobswell.ca to register or call 604.681.4898. The workshop costs $20.00, due upon registration. Lunch is included.

Hope for the Future Ministries
Submitted by Desiree Botha on August 18, 2010 - 1:08pm.
Hope for the Future (Sharmala Buell) is a ministry based in the city of Mbeya, Tanzania, East Africa, which helps meet the needs of children and youth under 18 years of age, who are affected by poverty and the aftermath of HIV/AIDS.
We are pleased to announce that Hope for the Future is now registered as a Charitable Organization with Revenue Canada. This means we will now be able to issue income tax receipts to all those who have made donations to this ministry this year. If you would like to give to Hope for the Future, you can do so via Cove Community Church (write Hope for the Future Ministries on the memo line of your cheque or on the offering envelope) or by mailing a cheque to “Hope for the Future Ministries”, 1416 Bourcier Drive, Ottawa, ON, K1E 3K8. If you would like to find out more, please contact Jan at wilsonja@telus.net to find out more. Thank you.
